The Wells Of Salvation (4)

2 Samuel 23:15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

As we continue to find refreshing, hope, and mercy from the 'wells of Salvation' we arrive in our study to yet another. It is the well of God's irresistible grace.

When quickened by the Holy Spirit of Almighty God, the unsaved sinner is irresistibly drawn to Christ for cleansing and pardon from all sin. Our little text in 2nd Samuel illustrates this in a profoundly simple way.

David was very thirsty, yet he was not drawn to any water other than from the well at Bethlehem. His heart longed for a drink from that specific well, none other would do, no other was desirable to him. He was drawn irresistibly to partake from that well alone. What a picture of effectual calling and of irresistible grace.

2 Peter 1:10-11 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: [11] for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

We need to be sure of our so great Salvation, be diligent therefore, to taste for ourselves the waters of irresistible grace from the 'wells of Salvation'

This irresistible grace of God not only compells us to drink from the 'wells of Salvation', we are so satisfied that we will never look again to the broken cisterns of the world. We will never thirst again by God's irresistible grace.
