1 Kings 22:20-23 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. [21] And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. [22] And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. [23] Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

(Revelation 12: 9-12) speaks of heightened demonic activity on earth leading up to the Great Tribulation. Already we have noted the way demonic activity in Noah's day targeted families to their corruption and destruction. We drew the parallel to our own generation today, where the digital age has offered platforms, with help from AI, to launch demonic advancement.

Our modern society exhibits family breakdown like none other. We are moving further in our studies to see demonic involvement in causing fakery, delusion and National defeat.

1 Kings 22 introduces us to a most remarkable incident where demonic activity mirrors closely what is literally happening today. The passage relates to Ramoth-gilead being captured by the Syrian enemy.

Ahab, King of Israel called on Jehoshaphat King of Judah to help him recapture the city. Jehoshaphat asked for God's direction and eventually Ahab conceded. Ahab rejected the Words of Micaiah, the prophet of God. But Micaiah went on to share the Words of our text.(1 Kings 22:20-23)

A lying spirit possessed all the false prophets, they were demon posessed. They proclaimed lies and deceit because they were possessed with the spirit of error.

And so King Ahab went to battle disguised as King Jehoshaphat, prompted by the demonic false prophets. Providentially, a bow was 'drawn at a venture' and the arrow found the deluded King.

Then, as now all false prophets are demon possessed, they have only the spirit of error. The Saviour warned of such lying spirits,

Matthew 24:23-24 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. [24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

When we hear our own King saying that Islam has much to offer our once Christian Nation, it's is a clear indication that he is deeply deluded, and very easily mislead.

This warning about demonic deception comes as we are approaching the 'last days' just before the time of antichrist. Kings, governments, and Nations will all follow the demonic false prophets as they welcome the 'man of sin'. We can praise God for His faithfulness in revealing this warning against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Blessings in Christ. Rev Mervyn Cotton.
