The Book of Ezekiel.

A Coming Day of Wrath.

Ezekiel 7:1-3 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, [2] Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. [3] Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

The wrath of God is outpouring as a consequence of man's sin and rebellion. The Word of God states in,

Job 36:18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: Then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

However, people in general, cast this warning aside because they do not believe the Word of God. Many hold the opinion of the scoffers shared in,

2 Peter 3:4 and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Yet, 'God is angry with the wicked every day'

Ezekiel brought the prophetic Word to the exiles in Chebar (Ezekiel 7). The Word of God came to National Israel and to true Israel. The prophetic messages came to the saved and to the unsaved, both were warned of a coming day of wrath.

Today, believers and unbelievers receive the same prophetic warning, God's wrath, His judgment is close. When a Nation casts out the Word of God, then that nation will be judged, God will pour wrath upon that people and that land.

When Ezekiel brought the prophetic Word of God to the exiles at Chebar, they like our generation could look back with fear to former times when God visited Nations in wrath and judgment.

When the antedeluvian generation cast out God's Word, the wrath of God swept the world of sinners away and spared 8 souls. When Sodom and Gomorrah were proud in their homosexual lifestyle, God burned up the cesspit of sin. When Nimrod defied God and started to set up Babel, God destroyed the city and confounded the peoples language.

When Pharoh rejected God, the wrath of God plagued the land. When the Canaanites filled the land of promise with base pagan idolatry, God poured wrath and judgment upon them. When the 10 northern tribes rebelled against God, the Assyrians were used as instruments of wrath against rebellious Israel.

Now, if we start at Chebar and see the fulfilment of the prophetic Word concerning the reality of the wrath of God against ungodliness, we start to understand the fear of the LORD. God used the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, The Ottoman Turks as instruments of His divine wrath against the land that His people Israel defiled with their sin and rebellion.

When God speaks of a coming day of wrath, then we all do well to heed the warning and to flee to Christ for refuge. When the Saviour opens the sith seal, the torrent of God's Holy wrath and hot displeasure against fallen man's sin will pour forth. It will be too late then, to cry for mercy.

Revelation 6:12-17 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [13] and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. [14] And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. [15] And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; [16] and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
