The Book of Ezekiel.

The Land Destroyed.

Ezekiel 6:2-3 Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them, [3] and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.

The prophetic Word came consistently to true Israel in the Camp at Chebar as it does to believers today. Truly, God is good to Israel, His compassions fail not, they are new every morning, surely we must say 'great is thy faithfulness'.

When nations turn away from God the consequences for such reckless ungodly behaviour are always severe. Yet in every land whether in Israel or among the gentile nations, Almighty God remains faithful in sending His prophetic Word, warning of the consequences of turning from Him.

Our passage in Ezekiel chapter 6 sounds the alarm against turning away from God and allowing evil to enter our land. True Israel learned this bitter lesson as they were torn out of their own land and cast into the Spiritual ghetto in Chebar. For God's redeemed people, there is always a consequence for allowing strange customs and cultures to invade our land.

The prophesy of Ezekiel reveals the warning that Christ gives to the sheep of His pasture regarding their land. The land and nation in which God has placed His people is greatly favoured and prospered under the authority of God's Word. However, the prophetic warning rings loud and clear, enemy forces are arranged against the God honouring and Christian testimony which some nations seek to profess.

This is a prophetic warning for every God fearing generation in every land that seeks to exalt God's Glorious Name, beware of the stranger that is at your borders, or that you welcome in.

Today Islam threatens Nations that once espoused Biblical Christianity. Churches are burned, Christians regardless of gender and age are raped, people are beheaded and tortured. Christians are forbidden to pray and worship while Islamic prayer mats fill the streets.

Prophesy is being fulfilled in this our generation, Israel and the Nations are being desolated by the forces of darkness. Are God's people going to stand by as on lookers ??? Are we going to follow the example of the exiles in Chebar ???

Ezekiel 3:7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

However, God will not leave Himself without a witness, He will always reserve a remnant that will not bow down to Satan.

Ezekiel 6:8-10 Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. [9] And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. [10] And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

Blessings in Christ. Rev Mervyn Cotton.
