The Book Of Ezekiel.
The Book of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel's Commission.
Ezekiel 2:8-10
But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. [9] And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; [10] and he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe
Ezekiel's Commission extends to Ezekiel 3:14, and reveals the sheer enormity of the task that God entrusted him with. Ezekiel was to digest the Word of God, and then, without fear or favour, preach the whole counsel of God to God's redeemed people. He was not to conform to the ways or customs that God's people had picked up from the stranger when they were back in their land. Ezekiel was warned of God not to be entangled with the spirit of the age which prevailed in the spiritual ghetto at Chebar.
Ezekiel 2:8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house:
God's people, before the exile in Babylon, had desecrated God's House by adopting the customs and cultures of the stranger. Moreover, their hearts were not changed even though they were now swept into a strange land and forced to live in a strange culture.
Oh that God's people today would waken up to our profound dilemma, we can't even recognise our own once Christian nation. As God's people, we are not allowed to worship or to serve God as we once did. The stranger has liberty to profane our land with their culture and customs, while, as believers, our Christian principles and values are being cast out.
Ezekiel was commissioned by Almighty God to speak to God's redeemed people, to true Israel. The prophets task was made more simple because there was no language barrier, communication was not a problem
Ezekiel 3:4-6 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. [5] For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; [6] not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.
Today, the language of Scripture is easily understood by every child of God who is born again of the Spirit and washed in the blood of the Lamb. The Word of God is understood by the people of God, to this end we are without excuse. When God shows us sin that is destroying our testimonies, then we are in no position to debate or to argue the matter.
Ezekiel was commissioned to withstand unwise and unlearned criticism and opposition from the stiff necked and proud amongst God's people.
Ezekiel 3:7-9 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. [8] Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. [9] As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
Today, preachers and ministers are encouraged to adjust to the desires of their unspiritual congregations. Rather than being faithful to God's Commission they bend to the lesser standard of social acceptance, becoming men pleasers. In order for the Church, the body of believers, to survive in our present day spiritual ghetto, we must as believers accept the correction and chastisement of God's immutable Word and cast off the growing Satanic culture of our lands.
