Daniel 8:2

And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

This chapter shows another vision that God has placed before Daniel the prophet. He sees a ram with two horns, one greater than the other. The ram was moving westward, southward, and northward, gaining victory as it went. (Verses 3-4)

Then suddenly, things changed as an he goat, with a notable horn, came from the west and smote the ram, breaking his two horns. The goad trampled the ram under foot. Afterwards the notable horn was broken and in it's place 4 horns grew up (Verses 5-8)

Then out of these 4 horns, and little horn grew up and waxed exceeding great,

Daniel 8:9-10 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. [10] And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

This little horn is Antichrist, the man of sin. He blasphemes God, desecrates the Holy place, removes the Sacrifices, and casts God's truth to the ground. (Verses11-14)

Daniel seeks God's help for the interpretation of the vision. (Verse 20-26) The ram is the kingdom of Media Persia, the goat is Grecia, while the four horns are 4 kingdoms that arose from the Grecia kingdom.

These are the 4 beasts that were described as coming up out of the sea in Daniel 7. History names these kingdoms as, Macedon, Pergamon, Ptolemic, and Seleucus. And Antichrist will come from one of these kingdoms. Macedon and Pergamon are today's Greece and Turkeye, in the northern Mediterranean. Ptolemy is North Africa, Egypt Lybia etc, while Seleucus includes, Saudi, Iraq and Iran to the east.

If we go back to verse 9, we discover that the little horn pushes towards the south, to the east and to the pleasant land (Israel)

The picture, we believe, is that Antichrist will arise in the northern Mediterranean area as a global peace envoy so to speak. He will gather Islamic consensus, move south to gather more from north Africa, before going to the Mecca regions to get final approval to establish a covenant with Israel. This Covenant will be established for the 7 year Tribulation period.

Daniel 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.
