The Book of Daniel.

Daniel 8:1, 3 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

[3] Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

Daniel's prophetic vision (Verses 3 - 14), describes a ram with two horns, one larger than the other. Then an he goat with a single horn, rushes violently towards the ram and breaks off the two horns and tramples upon it.

Afterwards, the goat's notable horn is broken, and in place thereof 4 horns appear.

Daniel 8:8-9 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. [9] And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

Just now, we want to Compare Scripture with Scripture to get an understanding as to what is being revealed here. If we go back to Daniel 7 :2-3 an interesting parallel develops,

[2] Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. [3] And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

The striving of the 4 winds and the Revelation of the 4 beasts. And out of the 4th beast there arose a little horn.

Now, with this parallel before us, we will go on to learn the identity of these kingdoms, their place in history and the possible area from which Antichrist will be revealed.

This little horn (the Antichrist) is seen in Daniel's vision to push south, then to push East, and finally to push to wards the pleasant land (Israel).

Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

God willing, next time, we will look in more detail as Daniel's vision is interpreted.

Blessings in Christ. Rev Mervyn Cotton.
