The Book of Daniel.

Daniel 11:2-4 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia. [3] And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. [4] And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

The Saviour reveals this prophesy to Daniel which commences in Daniel's time and runs up to the latter days when Antichrist is revealed. Firstly the Kings of Persia will cease, this kingdom will be replaced with Greece under Alexander the Great. Then the Greek kingdom will fall into 4 divisions, (Daniel 7, the 4 beasts that rise out of the sea)

From Daniel 11:5 - 20 the kings of the north (Macedon and Pergamon) engage in various battles with the Kings of the south (Ptolemic and Selucid)

This takes up to the 'raiser of taxes' (Seleucus) who sent Heliodorus to plunder the Second Temple at Jerusalem. All of this prophesy has been fulfilled as the historical records show.

From Daniel 11:21 - 45 the prophesy is future, in other words it will find fulfilment in the last days which lie beyond our era, in the kingdom of Antichrist, 'the vile person' verse 21.

This 'vile person' will gain popularity as a peace envoy (verse 21) . He will move south, then east and finally to the pleasant land (Daniel 8:9) It's is when the 'vile person' gets to the pleasant land, that he will make a 7 year covenant with Israel. In the midst of this period, he will set up 'the abomination of desolation' on the Temple at Jerusalem. This Antichrist will be energised by Satan.

Daniel 11:37-39 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. [38] But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. [39] Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

Revelation 13:4-6, And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. [6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

We believe the covenant of peace with Israel will be an interfaith amalgam spawned of Satan. The worship centre will be on Temple Mount, where the 'image of desolation will be positioned. (This is our conjecture)

Blessings in Christ. Rev Mervyn Cotton.
